The Micropower Council represents companies and organisations active in the microgeneration sector and campaigns on behalf of its members for a genuine mass market for small scale, low and zero carbon electricity and heat generating technologies. Micropower Council members include manufacturers and installers of microgeneration technologies as well as energy suppliers and other trade associations active in the sector.

 

The National Solar Centre (NSC) will be a solar centre of excellence providing a technical, trusted and independent voice for industry and related parties by providing industry led research, analysis, testing and training. It will represent all companies in the solar PV supply chain and provide evidence based accurate information for related organisations. Beneficiaries will include solar companies throughout the supply chain as well as the government departments, network operators, utilities, insurance companies, investors, landowners/agents, the construction industry, local authorities, airport authorities and all potential customers.

 

Solar Power Portal is the leading renewable energy resource for all UK solar power and feed-in tariff information. Solar power is one of the few renewable energy generating technologies that can help the UK reach its EU binding targets in urban centres. Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) is an internationally recognisable quality assurance scheme, supported by the Department of Energy and Climate Change. MCS itself is an EN 45011 Scheme and was launched in 2008. MCS certifies microgeneration products used to produce electricity and heat from renewable sources. MCS also certifies installation companies to ensure the microgeneration products have been installed and commissioned to the highest standard for the consumer. MCS covers electricity generating technologies with a capacity of up to 50kW, and heat generating technologies with a capacity of up to 45kW. MCS is also an eligibility requirement for the Government's financial incentives, which include the Feed-in Tariff and the Renewable Heat Incentive.

The Yorkshire and Humber Microgeneration Partnership (YHMP) was established in 2009 - a regional collaboration between installers, manufacturers, training providers, community groups advocates for renewable energy. The Partnership was the first of its kind in the UK, with over 170 members at its peak. The Partnership aims are:

·         to promote the installation of microgeneration technologies in Yorkshire and the Humber,

·         to ensure high customer care and installation standards,

·         to represent the views of Yorkshire and Humber Microgeneration sector at a local, regional and national level as appropriate.
